Mayon Volcano The black area sows another build up of ash and volcanic ash - a death trap awaits.Rains caused by Typhoon Durian brought mud and rocks down hillsides, burying 2 villages in the foothills of the Mayon volcano. Typhoon Durian hit in December 2006 - see http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200612/s1802853.htm for a related news article. This is still an active volcano.This particular shot was taken at the Church of Cagsaua which was built in 1724 by Fray Francisco Blanco, O.F.M., and was buried by rocks and lava during the eruption of Mayon Volcano, 1st February 1814.NOTE: 1st September 2007 - This photo has been sold for commercial use and may not be reproduced in any form whatsoever.
